Our First Year in a booklet

8th March 2020

Wow, what a great first year we have had

From starting up as a Christmas meal, to where we are now is amazing in the first year of opening our doors.

At the time of printing our booklet, we have served 5534 meals and given 162 food parcels to all those who needed our service. On top of that we have joined in community activities to help promote our cafe. We are also very proud to have an award from the Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards

Of course, this could not be achieved without the help of local businesses and members of the community. Special thanks go to:

  • Simpsons Bakery who donate to use every night
  • William Frazer Butcher who donate our Christmas meat
  • Morrisons
  • Tesco
  • Lidl
  • Gillespie of Stranraer who cook our Chrstmas Turkeys
  • Knit and Natter group from Kirkcolm who have donated twice to us now
  • Plus many anonymous donators who would prefer to not be named

Happy Birthday To Us

27th November 2019

Happy Birthday To Us

Wow… we have been going a whole year now and today is the day it all started last year…. 22nd Nov 2018.

In this year we have given 6201 meals to people coming to the cafe, along with 227 food parcels to those needing them. We have helped train people to get new jobs and have a great environment for both the service users and our volunteers.

Thank you to each and everyone of our volunteers, past and present who make each day happen. Also, where would we be without our service users, some regulars and new faces every day.

Finally thank you to all the local businesses and people in the community who have donated and continue to donate to us.

It is fantastic to see the support from everyone in our community to make our little cafe a success.

Here’s to another year

Vote for us to help us get funding

3rd March 2019

By voting for us, you will be helping us get all the necessary equipment for our Cafe out as part of getting our own premises, as currently we are based at the Baptist Church. This includes a full kitchen, tables, chairs, crockery …. everything we need.

This will help us to help our service users including those in financial hardship, Children who are entitled to free school meals (during the holidays) and people in social isolation.

So far, since we opened in November, we have already served 1014 meals to our service users and given 70 food parcels to those needing them.

Not only do we offer meals, we also offer a friendly and safe place to visit, have walk-in surgeries, work with different agencies, giving people work experience and training and shortly we will be introducing a toddlers group and a knitting group.

We give all this for free, so this funding is vital to the continued success of the cafe.

The link to the voting is: https://dumgal.participare.io/… and the attached flyer goes a step by step process on how to vote

Please, Please, Please vote and share this post to everyone who can vote…..
